Your First Visit

In addition to an initial teeth cleaning, each patient receives a thorough evaluation, including a procedure that measures the health of your gum tissue around each tooth, x-rays as needed and an oral cancer screening. These procedures will detect any problem areas and help the dentist determine a treatment plan based on your individual evaluation.
Please be prepared!
- We suggest a list of any questions you would like to ask our office so you don’t forget anything on the day of your appointment. This includes any concerns you have or oral problems ie: pain or sensitivity you might be experiencing.
- If you have dental insurance, please remember to bring your insurance information with you.
- Please advise the front office of any important medical information such as whether you require pre-medication for medical reasons, or if you have a latex allergy.
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first scheduled appointment to fill out and process all needed paperwork. Your first visit should last around and hour and a half.
Your Child’s Very First “Happy Visit”
A “Happy Visit” is your child’s first exposure to our Dental Office. It is a non-invasive, “happy” visit to introduce a young child to the dentist’s office. These visits are designed for children age 3-5. They last about 20 minutes and there is no charge.
Happy visits are highly recommended prior to any teeth cleanings or treatment aside from emergency treatment. Why? Unfortunately, many adults experienced some form of dental trauma as children. It is our goal to eliminate any such trauma and make going to the dentist as enjoyable as possible.
This introduction includes riding in a dental chair…a lot of fun…counting teeth, learning to use a toothbrush, meeting the dentist and answering any questions the child or parent may have. To make this truly a “happy visit…we end it with a trip to the “Treasure Box”!
